The Newark Downtown District was born on September 2, 1998. 2018 marks the NDD’s 20th anniversary. Be ready for a year full of festivities to commemorate 20 years of revitalizing our beautiful downtown.
The Ambassadors are heart and soul of our organization. Highly recognizable in their bright yellow and black uniforms they are split up into teams which are fundamental to the upkeep and maintenance of the downtown. During our peak season, there are up to 60 Ambassadors employed by NDD, more than 95% are Newark residents. Click here to learn more about our Ambassadors program.

Mulberry Commons will be coming to life using $100 million in private investment and $10 million in public funding. The 22-acre park extends to McCarter Highway and will provide a key passage between the central business district, the train station and local businesses in the Ironbound.
