WHAT: For one night only, join the Ukrainian Grand Kyiv Ballet as they debut the timeless ballet masterpiece, Sleeping Beauty.
Sleeping Beauty is a beautiful ballet about the power of love, dreams, and exploration, which has been delighting audiences on the world’s stages for more than 100 years. The three-act ballet extravaganza is based on Charles Perrault’s fairy tale of the same name.

WHO: The Grand Kyiv Ballet was founded by two principal dancers, Kateryna Kukhar and Alex Stoianov, who now call Seattle their temporary home due to the conflict in Ukraine. When the war upended their lives in 2022, they undertook extraordinary efforts, with the help of friends and family, to evacuate their two small children safely from Ukraine. This life-altering experience led to a profound change in the Grand Kyiv Ballet’s mission, “Now we have another mission. When the war started, we started dancing for our country,” said Stoianov. “It is our cultural front line.”
Today, The Grand Kyiv Ballet, under Alex and Kateryna’s direction, is one of three ballet companies that has been formed to bring work to the more than 200 ballet dancers who evacuated Ukraine during the unrest.
Grand Kyiv Ballet is proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds from this event will be directed towards the renovation efforts of the Kyiv State Choreographic College in Kyiv.
