Newark Alliance Names Technology and Government Leader Solomon Steplight as New Chief Executive Officer
Newark Alliance is entering its next chapter at an important moment for the city we serve. We’re excited to announce Solomon Steplight as the next Chief Executive Officer of Newark Alliance. Solomon brings experience spanning government, technology and the nonprofit sector, along with deep personal and professional connections to Newark. His relationship with the city extends from his early experiences growing up to his time serving in senior leadership with the City of Newark. Throughout his career, he has led complex organizations, built partnerships across sectors, and helped translate ambitious ideas into systems, investments, and opportunities that can move communities forward. We eagerly welcome him to Newark Alliance and look forward to working to advance Newark’s future together.
Experience Newark Community Event Sponsorship Program
The Newark Alliance is launching the Experience Newark Community Event Sponsorship Program, offering $500–$2,500 micro-grants to help Newark-based organizations and residents host events that celebrate local culture, strengthen community connections, and engage both residents and visitors.

Brought to you by The Newark Alliance, Invest Newark, and the Newark Arts and Education District, this campaign shines a spotlight on the city’s culinary talent, dynamic arts community, and thriving small businesses.
Festivals United Newark
Festivals United Newark is a coalition of Newark’s most beloved cultural events—Afro Beat Fest, Halsey Festival, Lincoln Park Music Festival, Newark Arts Festival, Newark LGBTQ Pride, and Newark Winter Village—formed in partnership with the Newark City Parks Foundation. Together, we celebrate the richness, resilience, and creative spirit of our city.
