Downtown Newark Celebrates Love

Submitted by itadmin on Mon, 01/23/2017 - 15:10

It might be chilly out, but let’s not forget February is a month to celebrate the warmth and coziness of love. We understand that the cold (and sometimes snowy) days, plus the longer nights, makes the perfect recipe for staying in and catching up on Netflix. However, downtown Newark is never in short supply of events and happenings to make even the biggest cold haters consider going outside.

Even if you are not in a relationship, a lot of countries around the world take this opportunity to celebrate their love of community. Last month, Mayor Ras J. Baraka celebrated the announcement of Downtown Newark’s Newest Park, Mulberry Commons. This state of the art park will serve to connect the Downtown and Ironbound districts of our city, spur area retail and residential development, and offer activities and social amenities. You can think of it as a love note for all the people who live, leisure, and labor in Newark.

So let’s embrace and reciprocate the love! Become part of Newark’s love fest and celebrate the city we cherish. We have compiled a shortlist of winter friendly activities to enjoy with your loved ones, so there is no reason to rely solely on TV and blankets. If you find an outdoor event, do not be concerned, the warm smiles of our downtown will surely have you feeling like it is 80 degrees and sunny 🙂
