Read more about last year's event:
This year’s season marked the 17th year for the NDD Common Greens Farmers Market – the largest and most diverse outdoor market in Newark! Weather permitting, the market is scheduled every Thursday from June to October, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Over 1,200 residents, commuters, and students flooded PSE&G Plaza for live music played at every market and fresh, delectable food, all-natural skin care products, originally designed clothing, unique, handmade artisan jewellery, and more. This year the NDD Farmers Market had over 25 vendors, and half were Newark-based businesses. In addition to their Jersey Fresh farmed fruits and vegetables from two New Jersey farms, the 2017 vendors served empanadas, Argentinian style burgers, gourmet hot dogs, fried chicken, freshly-baked cookies, all-natural pressed juices, and a variety of other delicacies. The lines were long for these treats – so long that a loyal NDD Farmers Market vendor, O’Lala Empanadas, was encouraged to open up his second storefront right in our downtown on Market Street. Along with O’Lala Empanadas, Gaucho Burger and Damn Good Chicken were this season’s favorites and are also considering Newark as a potential location for their brick and mortar.
The NDD Common Greens Farmers Market accepts SNAP, WIC, and Senior Citizen Program Vouchers, and is within the Nourishing Newark Farmers Markets network.
