It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Newark is the liveliest place for you, your family and friends to enjoy the holidays with great food, entertainment, and laughter. To help you prepare for the holiday season, the NDD has put together a list of the best events happening right here in Newark.

1.Downtown Newark Holiday Celebration (Featuring concert by Blu Cantrell and Sunshine Anderson)

December 6, 2016, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The festivities will include an amazing free concert by R&B Soul Singers Blu Cantrell and Sunshine Anderson and a 40-foot tree lighting -one of the largest lit trees in New Jersey! Children will be able to enjoy a mini hockey rink, a rides on the trackless train, carnival games and free pictures and gifts with Santa Claus. The Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting and Celebration is brought to you by The Newark Downtown District and New Jersey Devils.

2.Broadway Sings Muppet Christmas Carols

The Broadway Sings Muppet Christmas Carol is bringing a new Holiday Tradition to Newark and the NJPAC! Broadway Sings the Muppet Christmas Carol is a concert version of all the popular hits from the Muppets and a few songs that never made it to the big screen.

3.Hot 97 Hot For the Holidays

Hot 97’s Hot For the Holidays Annual concert returns to the Prudential Center on December 3, 2016. This year’s star-studded line-up includes rappers Lil Yachty, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Joey Bada$$, Jidenna, Kehlani, TI and R&B legend Usher.

4.Kwanzaa Festival

Bring your family to celebrate the Nguzo Saba at NJPAC’s 18th Annual Kwanzaa children’s festival. The event will include an arts and crafts village, music and dance activities and a marketplace. The event is free to the public so come out and enjoy the festivities.

 

5.Voices of Newark Choir and Provenance Music Group

The Voices of Newark Choir will sing holiday favorites to celebrate unity and the spirit of the holidays.  They will be accompanied by the Provenance Music Group.
